For someone who has experienced the joy of owning a dog, few things are as heartbreaking as having to say goodbye. No matter the reason, letting go is a difficult and unanticipated experience.
Today, we’ll share a story about a dog who faced multiple abandonments due to his age, leaving him longing for a forever home.
Meet Martin
To Martin’s owner, he was the most endearing and beloved companion. However, as his owner approached the age of 89, he realized he could no longer care for him properly. Determined to find Martin a loving family, he set out on a search, but it proved challenging due to the dog’s age of 10. In the eyes of potential adopters, Martin was considered a senior dog with limited time left, despite his cheerful and outgoing nature.
Samantha Ranlet, a marketing communications specialist at the SPCA, shared that Martin adapted well to his new circumstances. Although it’s uncertain if he fully grasped the situation, from the very beginning, he displayed a contented and easy-going demeanor, radiating sweetness with his Teddy bear face.
Despite enduring numerous challenges, Martin struggled to find a fitting family for himself. His heartwarming personality kept getting overlooked, and for two months, seven potential adoptions fell through for various reasons.
The dedicated SPCA staff couldn’t bear to see Martin’s hopes dashed repeatedly. They knew he deserved better, so they decided to take matters into their own hands and raise awareness about Martin’s plight.
